My Report

My first Schürzenjäger Live experience began on Wednesday 3rd August with a bus and train journey to London Stansted Airport. After a night in Salzburg I arrived in Mayrhofen on Thursday afternoon.

On the Friday morning I went to Tux to check out the concert area before returning to Mayrhofen to go to the "Chatter Treffen" at Schürzenjäger Treff.

Concert day began with the 10:00 shuttle bus from Mayrhofen to Tux. With the weather improving I waited at the South entrance with Schürzenjäger music provided by the Hohenhaus Tenne Team. Shortly after 13:00 the barrier was finally removed and fans began to head in. A quick trip to the shop stand to buy the tour rain jacket proved a wise decision! Soon afterwards I located suitable site on the right side of the stage, with Anke Dietzsch and other chatters - making a little group of 8.

15:00 arrived and we were greeted by Michael and Tom followed by performances from "Die Bergcasanovas aus dem Zillertal", "Confect", "Die Hegl", and "VIA". By 19:00 the rain was falling steadily and umbrellas were being opened. Shortly after 20:00 the main feature began - with the rain easing.

The title song "Irgendwo hinter dem Horizont" was followed by "Schürzenjägerzeit" - adding to the great atmosphere. The mix of old and new songs continued with the Limbo Performance from Christian and Ludwig during "Die herrlichste Art der Zeitverschwendung". Christof again provided superb vocals with "Der Regenbogen-Mann" and we were treated to the "Boarisches Medley". Peter asked "1/2 hour break, or 20 minutes?" - 20 minutes break followed, naturally!!

The second half began with the "Polka Medley" - with the atmosphere superb despite gradually increasing rain. We took our places and made space when the time came for "Timple Boarischer", before Patrick and Alf exploded into action for the Drum Solo followed by the spectacular "flight show". Another quieter medley followed before a special treat for the girls. Florian's performance of "Sex and seine Konsequenzen" during which he stripped down to only underwear. Patrick then followed with "Aus Fremden werden Freunden" - appropriate for me! Peter then continued with "Langsam lern i mit mir zu leben". "Sierra Madre", "Junge Spinner" and "Engel für einander" naturally rounded things off.

"Servus, bis zum nächsten mal!" was arriving far too soon. One by one Peter packed the band up into the box and was wheeled off stage sat on top. A superb firework display followed before the time had come to say "Tschüs, hoffentlich in 2007 bin ich dabei"

Of course, that was far from being the end of my time in Tirol. I had a fantastic time with visits to the glacier, Grieralm, Krimml Wasserfälle, Stilluptal and so on. After my two weeks in Mayrhofen I moved on for a further two weeks in Söll before finally making my way back to England.

Alas, the rain and light were too bad for any further photos :((
